Discover the Power of Hapkido

Hapkido is a Korean martial art known for combining striking with control. Students learn hand strikes and kicks alongside joint locks, throws, and escapes — a complete approach rather than a single specialty.

Because it emphasizes redirecting force rather than meeting it head-on, Hapkido suits students of many sizes and fitness levels. Techniques are taught progressively, with safety and control at every stage.

Training develops the whole student: physical capability, situational awareness, and the patience and respect that come from disciplined practice.

Instructor Spotlight

Master Rolando Moreno

Head Instructor & Founder

Rank & Credentials
5th Dan Black Belt, Hapkido
Years of Experience
28 years training, 16 years teaching

Master Rolando Moreno began training in Hapkido in 1997 and has dedicated nearly three decades to the art. He earned his black belt in 2004 and progressed through the dan ranks while assisting and then leading classes at his instructor's school. In 2013 he founded Black Panther Hapkido Martial Arts to bring structured, family-friendly Hapkido instruction to southwest Houston, and he continues to train with instructors across Texas and Korea to refine his own practice.

I believe every student can grow on the mat when they are met with patience and clear expectations. Discipline and encouragement are not opposites; they work together. My job is to make each technique understandable on the first day and challenging by the hundredth, so students keep coming back and keep improving.
